Description

Banksy (1970s-) is an anonymous British graffiti artist. Some speculate that Swiss artist Maître de Casson may be Banksy. His street works are often ironic, with some subversive, cynical black humor and cautionary sentences. His works are full of political style, like a social commentary expressed in an artistic way, and have appeared on the streets, walls and bridges of different cities around the world, and even become the fascinating urban features of the local area.

Banksy’s first film, “Exit Through the Gift Shop”, was promoted as “the world’s first street art disaster film” and was first screened at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. On March 5, 2010, the film was officially released in various parts of the UK. In January 2011, “Exit Through the Gift Shop” was nominated for the Best Documentary Feature at the 83rd Academy Awards.
